The Deans List Mixtape

Deans List just dropped their newest mixtape a day ago. I gave it a listen and it really impressed me. Definitely one of the best mixtapes so far in 2011. Great production, sick flow and some ill lyrics. The fact that were getting all these songs for free seems like a steal. Be sure to download this mixtape as soon as you can. Below are a few of my favorites so if you like what you're hearing download them and the rest of the mixtape on the links below. Enjoy-

Things I Haven't Done

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It was one of those weeks where everyone of my teachers made all my assignments due during the same week. You all know what its like. But no worries, now that its behind me I'm back and will be posted everyday this week. Here's a new jam from a group called The Good Husbands. They are an unknown group from Washington just trying to get there name out there. In this song called "Things I Haven't Done" they sample Sara Bareilles' song, "Many the Miles", which gives it a unique, upbeat style to it. Not only that, these guys show they have what it takes to flow well and provide some solid lyrics. Definitely a positive feel to it so blast this in the morning and I guarantee it will provide a great start to your day. Anyways, give it a listen and download it on the link below.

Jack Johnson Session

Hope everyone is having a dope weekend so far. Hard not to when the weather in North Carolina is 75 degrees and sunny. Since the weather has been so nice, I decided to throw up these new feel good jams by the no name rapper, M.I. In it, he samples the very well known acoustic artist, Jack Johnson, and adds his own unique spin on things. Chill beats and ill verses combined with the silky smooth vocals and lyrics of Jack Johnson? Basically, throw on these jams and I guarantee they will take the term "broin out" to a whole new level. The two videos I provided are here to give you a little taste of some of my favorites, download them along with the rest of the mixtape. I'm telling you, go grab some natty lights, slip on your mid calves, throw on an episode of family guy, and bump M.I.'s mixtape, you wont be disappointed -

Chiddy Bang can do no wrong. With Xaphoon producing dope beat after dope beat, and Chiddy smashes them all with his unique flow, this tandem is just keep on rising. Here Xaphoon rolls a Train track up and makes it a straight banger. This is one of those feel good anthems for your Get Fucked Up Friday.

It's Brenton Again

Brenton Duvall is unstoppable these days. He just had his first show a few days ago which sold out in 20 minutes. Brenton plays again sometime later this week for the Barstool U show and will be opening for Hoodie Allen. The kid is makin moves. Anyways, he just dropped us with his latest work of art called, "Blow The $krilla". In this song he samples Too $hort’s “Blow the Whistle” and Skrillex’s “With You Friends”. Brenton shows off his genius in this mashup and once again proves to us why hes gonna be the next big thing. Download this...Its dope.

Letter To The Lost

Sam Adams has been doing some work over a couple uplifting songs, including this one and coming home. This one has a great beat, and a solid chorus coming from a chick named Christina Perri. Anyways, Sammy kills it once again.

Sunday Chill

Hey guys. Sorry its been a few days since I have posted up here, pretty busy last couple of days. Hope everyone had a good weekend. As always, I'm gonna throw up some chill, low key songs to help you sit back, relax and wind down from a busy weekend. The first one is a Big Z remix called "Slow Down". The song features both Lupe Fiasco and Mos Def, two names together that are sure to make a hit. Its got a dope instrumental beat in the back and really sets the scene for a chill sesh. Be sure to download. The next is a song by a kid who calls himself Miracle. This up and coming 18 year old out of Australia samples Angus & Julia Stone’s song called "A Big Jet Plane". Its probably a little different than what your used to but listen the whole way through and give it a chance before you pass it up. I promise you it ends up being a real laid back and chill rap song.

"I got the game mirrored and it's closer than appears"

Chiddy Bang assassinates another beat, what else is new. Chiddy Bang is known for his play on words, catchy beats and glassy flow and that's just what you can find in his latest drop. Unlike others who have lately veered away from their distinctive sound, (I think you know who I'm talking about), Chiddy continues to be true to his style and the fresh brand that makes him so unique. In his latest song, the beat is definitely very catchy and Chiddy spits some ill verses as expected. Just another one to add to the impressive repertoire that Chiddy has begun to establish over the past few years -

"You're Fired"

Mac Miller's new song is as good as should be expected. In his new song, "Donald Trump", Mac just spits fire like he usually does and uses some ill sampling. Right now it seems like Mac can do no wrong. He is killing it with every song he drops and I can't wait to hear the latest mixtape which is rumored to drop March 11th. Get pumped. Check him -

Keep Blowing Up GWT

Gorilla Warfare Tactics have only released two songs and a freestyle, but yet they are blowing up instantly. These dudes have tight production and serious flow. I cannot wait to see a full mixtape out of 'em. The sampling is second to none, and I like the fact that they are slowly dropping new stuff more and more.

Finally Famous (2011)

So Big Sean's much anticipated album, "Finally Famous" is finally said to be released in March of this year. However, since the date has been changed around so much in the past, I'm not really sure how much I want to trust this information. I can't tell you how pumped I am for this album to finally be released. I have big expectations but how can you blame me when you think about the logistics of it. First of all, it's guest spots are filled with hip-hop's A-list, with names like, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Mr. Hudson, Game, Chiddy Bang, Rick Ross, The Dream, Drake, Tyga, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, Wale, Mike Posner, the list goes on. Second, it's gonna be on West's own GOOD Music imprint, that itself is enough for me. This 21-year old Detroit MC is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists and this album is going to be a big time debut for this up and comer. With all that said, here's the latest leak of his single called, "My Last". In it is a strong feature from Chris Brown and Big Sean's flow is once again flawless. This song is sure to blow up in the next few days. The song I have right now is only the clean version, but I will make sure to post up the other version as soon as I get my hands on it. Enjoy -

Dean's List

I am sure many of you have heard of and already have some songs from the group, The Dean's List. If you do, then you know that these guys are dope. As of right now, we are 12 days away from their latest project which is a mixtape called, "The Drive-In" that drops Feb 20th. It is said to be on some next level shit and from some of the previews of this mixtape, I can vow that it will blow you away. Don't believe me? Check out some of the YouTube previews provided below and I guarantee that you and I will be on the same page. Why these guys aren't huge yet is still a mystery to me, but hopefully with this mixtape, which I can already say could be one of the hottest mixtapes of 2011, they will establish a monumental name for themselves. So be sure to mark Feb 20th down on the calender and get amped, its gonna be sick. P.S. Obviously we don't have the download links out yet since the mixtape hasn't dropped, but be sure to come back on Feb 20th and download the entire set.

One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain

In the heat of the big game yesterday, a lot of people forgot that it was also Bob Marley's birthday, the man who introduced the world to the mystic power of reggae. As Jann Wenner, a well known writer of Rolling Stone once said, Bob, "was a true rocker at heart, and as a songwriter, he brought the lyrical force of Bob Dylan, the personal charisma of John Lennon, and the essential vocal stylings of Smokey Robinson into one voice." Bob Marley has some of the greatest lyrics and he remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music.  With that being said, throw on some Bob Marley and celebrate his life. Happy Birthday Bob Marley, you are missed but not forgotten.

Superbowl

Aziz dropped this song a while ago back when the NFL season first started. However, in honor of the game last night, I thought it might be appropriate to post this. Aziz shows off his ill flow and amazingly names all 32 NFL teams throughout his lyrics. Try and see if you can catch them all and download it on the link below -

Sunday Chill

Another Sunday after a big weekend. I posted up a few chill songs for you guys to listen to as the weekend comes to an end. All of these songs are slowed down remixes by a group called DJ Cones and they sound pretty sick and are definitely real chill. If you like them, be sure to download them, turn off the lights and grab a nap while you wait for the Superbowl to start -

Pittsburgh Steelers? Thats nothing. That Super Bowl Ring? Thats stuntin'

Lil Wayne throws his cheese head on to drop this freestyle over Wiz Khalifa's "Black & Yellow". There's no debate that Lil Wayne is a fan of the Packers and wants them to win the super bowl. What is also obvious is the die hard fanhood Wiz Khalifa has for his home town Steelers. Overall, it should make for an unreal battle not only between the two NFL teams and their quest to be crowned champions but also the battle of these two songs in terms of whose will become the more notorious anthem. In Weezy's version, he takes Khalifa's beat and makes it his own. Wayne's lyrics and flow are as good as always. Preview it on the video below and download it on the link provided. If you don't have or haven't heard Wiz's version than you probably either live in solitary or you have been in a coma for the past 5 months or so. Just in case that happens to be you, I put the original up as well - Get excited for Sunday..

Split Second

I hate myself for putting this song up cause I kinda hold a grudge against Split Second not only cause these kids went to Taft but also cause doug profenius, the kid who makes all the beats, pulled a bitch move and sucker punched one of my buddies younger brothers. Pretty fucked up move. That being said, I came across this song today and I actually think its pretty dope. Louie Reed goes hard on this beat with some good lyrics and great flow. Be sure to check this one out and download it on the link below. P.S. if you see doug anytime, be sure to take a pillowcase,  fill it full of bars of soap, and beat the shit out of him.

Ellie Goulding + Dubstep

A dubstep remix to one of Ellie Goulding's hit songs, never heard of that before... Alright I'm sure you've all heard a thousand remixes to her songs lately but believe me this one stands out and is definitely worth downloading. In the song, Bassnectar remixes Goulding's song "Lights". Bassnectar mixed with Ellie Goulding... not much else to say, you know its gonna be good. Check out this absolute banger -

Gorilla Warfare Tactics

Another up and coming hip hop group that is relatively new to the game. Not many people know about these guys. They are based out of New York City and most of them go to NYU. To give you a little bit better idea about them, in their biography it says, "Their music is heavily influenced by the feel of old school hip hop, as well as the new wave of dynamic artists such as Kanye West, J Cole, and Jay Electronica. They are currently working on their debut EP, which is set to drop Mid-February. GWT plans to release a lot of good music in the coming months and a full mixtape over the the summer. So be on the lookout!" I found out about this group from a friend at school who knew one of the artists from high school in St. Louis. Anyways, in this song, "Temptations", you can tell these guys are gonna make it big with their dope lyricism and unreal ability to flow. Check out the preview and be sure to download it on the link below the video. Like they said in their bio, be on the lookout for these guys.

City Kids

OCD: Moosh & Twist are two young up and comers born and raised in Philly. Their unique sound has been creating a buzz locally and around the east coast area. Moosh & Twist are still seniors in high school and lately have been making moves with Rex Arrow Films, like Mac Miller has, to make some quality music videos. In their latest song, "City Kids", which dropped in December, they sample Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." Since "Don't Stop Believing" is arguably one of the best songs ever, I was a little skeptical at first if these kids could live up to its success but after hearing it, I definitely think these two have done this classic some justice. Check out the video below and download the song on the link provided -
